Hailing from the west coast, 1 of the mc’s from the infamous hip hop group Jurassic 5. Branding their name in the hip-hop history books, Jurassic 5 was picked up by Interscope. 1999 re-releasing the J5 Ep Known for their old school flavorful harmony and uplifting lyrical content, which Akil played a big part in building.

Songwriting being one of his strong points Akil has penned many of the infamous songs noted by Jurassic 5, “Concrete school yard” (Top 35 single) “Quality Control” “Thin Line” featuring Nelly Furtado and many other favorites. Besides lending his expertise in penmen ship, Akil also added his talent as a producer to help create the Jurassic 5 formula. This formula opened doors for Jurassic 5 to travel worldwide planting seeds for the hip-hop culture.

With the current status of Jurassic 5 taking a vacation, Akil has pursued a solo career. Releasing his mix tape “Collection of expressions”. Showing his skills on his first solo project Akil takes the opportunity to present his talent.
